The Summit is the day the year points at. Chapters come together, students meet the business owners, founders, and professionals who work in Montgomery County, and three competitions run live, including the Startup Challenge, where student ventures pitch a panel of investors for real funding.
It is built to feel like the business world rather than a school event. You learn from people who have done it, meet the people who can open doors, and then put your own work in front of judges who will ask you why.
MCBA's annual conference
Every MCBA member can enter. Teams are small on purpose, so nobody sits in the back of a group and watches.
Teams develop an original business start-up idea, build a pitch, and present it to a panel of investors who evaluate each startup on innovation, feasibility, and market potential. The strongest ventures leave the room funded.
Teams of 1 to 3 students are handed a real-world business case and given 30 minutes to analyze the company's challenges and develop recommendations. Each team then delivers a 7 to 10 minute presentation, followed by a 3 to 5 minute Q&A.

The headline event
Student members build a venture and pitch it to a board of investors live, at the Summit. If the board believes in you, they back you with real money. This isn't a mock exercise: the funding is real, and so is the pressure.

Every chapter sends students. This is the one day the whole network is in one place, and the connections tend to outlast the event.

All three competitions are judged live, and the Startup Challenge awards real money to the ventures the investor panel believes in.
Nobody walks into a 30 minute case cold. The season is the preparation.
The Consulting and Strategy challenges give you 30 minutes and a blank page. The Academy's mock challenges and case round playbook train the same move: read fast, pick a position, and structure a recommendation you can defend.
Business models, margins, financial statements, and market structure are what the judges probe in the Q&A. All of it is in the portal's study tracks, unit by unit.
MCBA mentors review pitches, decks, and financials before the Summit, so the questions that would have caught you out get asked in practice first.
Chapters run internal rounds through the season. By February, most Summit teams have presented to a judge more than once.
The Summit is open to MCBA members. Join a chapter or start one at your school, and spend the season getting ready for the room.
