Why start a chapter

A chapter gives your school a team to build, a way to prepare for competitions together, and the Academy behind it.

  • Lead a team

    Build a founding team, set the officer roles and run a chapter of your own: the executive experience colleges look for.

  • Give your members the Academy

    Every member gets full Academy access for the school year: study topics, AP practice papers, a portfolio simulator, and AI-graded DECA and FBLA role plays.

  • Prepare for competitions together

    Your members train side by side for the competitions MCBA prepares students for, with practice tests and mock rounds for each.

  • Launch with support

    MCBA's chapter development team walks you through expectations, resources and timing, and gives you a launch kit.

Who can start one

Students

Any high school student in Maryland can start a chapter, in grades 9 through 12. You do not need any finance or economics experience. You lead the chapter, and MCBA guides you through each step.

Faculty advisors

A faculty advisor is recommended, and your school may require one for a student club. If you would like to see MCBA at your school, you can ask a student to apply here, or write to the chapter development team at mcba@mc-ba.com.

    Your chapter becomes official once MCBA approves it, and students at your school can join it.

Who can start a chapter?
Any high school student in Maryland can join an existing chapter or start a new one. No prior finance or economics experience is required.
Do I need a teacher sponsor?
A faculty advisor is recommended and often required by your school, but the MCBA team will guide you through the whole process and provide a turnkey launch kit.
Does submitting the form create my chapter?
No. It sends an application for MCBA to review, and your chapter becomes official only once it is approved.
How soon will I hear back?
Within two to three business days. If you have not heard from us by then, write to mcba@mc-ba.com.
What does it cost?
Applying costs nothing. Once your chapter is running, each member pays $20 once for the school year, July 1 to June 30, and it does not renew automatically.What a chapter costs
